Questions such as the following have been adressed:

• should upwards financial care (maintenance obligations) be maintained?
• should upwards non-financial care be obliged in family law or in social security law?
• if informal care should be compensated in family law, which techniques (such as alimony or personal or property claims upon separation or death) should then be used?

In a first stage, these questions have been researched on our first international expert seminar. The output of this is an edited volume, Elderly Care and Upwards Solidarity.
