Oproep voor abstracts: 2e Congres lgbti-onderzoek in de lage landen. State-of-the-art en een blik op de toekomst

Op 10 oktober vindt in Amsterdam de tweede editie plaats van het Vlaams-Nederlands netwerk lgbti-onderzoek. Het congres beoogt een interdisciplinaire uitwisseling. Het doel van het congres is onderzoekers en andere belangstellenden op de hoogte te houden van actueel lgbti-onderzoek in Nederland en Vlaanderen.
Onderzoekers worden uitgenodigd om lopend onderzoek of reflecties op lgbti-onderzoek te presenteren. Abstracts kunnen worden ingediend voor presentaties van huidig onderzoek, panelsessies rondom thematische, methodologische of theoretische vraagstukken of interactieve sessies waarin een specifiek onderwerp of kwestie actief plenair in een sessie wordt besproken (bv publiceren, meten, bereiken doelgroepen, beleidsagenda).
Keynote speakers
Prof. dr. Ilan Meyer is werkzaam aan het Williams Institute (University of California in Los Angeles; UCLA) en werkte hiervoor aan de Columbia University in New York. Meyer is de grondlegger van het seksueel minderheidsstress model dat veel gebruikt wordt als verklaring om de verschillen in psychische gezondheid tussen homoseksuele en heteroseksuele individuen te verklaren. Hij is de hoofdonderzoeker van de “Generation” studie waarover zijn presentatie tijdens deze dag onder andere zal gaan.
Prof. dr. Theo Sandfort (Columbia University in New York) was voorzitter van de toenmalige afdeling homostudies aan de Universiteit van Utrecht en van het onderzoeksprogramma “Diversiteit, levensstijl en gezondheid” van het Nederlands Instituut voor Sociaal Seksuologisch Onderzoek (het huidige Rutgers). Ook was hij voorzitter van de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Seksuologie en van de International Academy of Sex Reseach. Sandfort doet zowel onderzoek in de Verenigde Staten en verschillende Afrikaans landen naar onder andere mannen die seks hebben met mannen. In zijn presentatie zal hij hier nader op ingaan en ook de link leggen met Nederland.
Indienen abstracts en registratie
We nodigen onderzoekers en masterstudenten uit om een bijdrage (max. 250 woorden) in te dienen voor
a) individuele presentatie;
b) panelsessie met panel-abstract en abstract per panellid;
c) interactieve sessie.
De deadline voor abstracts is 1 september via CongresLGBTI2018@rutgers.nl
Vermeld a.u.b. de type bijdrage, alle namen en affiliaties. Abstracts worden beoordeeld door de wetenschappelijke commissie bestaande uit prof. dr. Henny Bos, dr. Myrte Dierckx, dr. Jantine van Lisdonk, Mauro Kerkchof, prof. dr. Alexis Deweale, dr. Laura Baams en Gabriël van Beusekom.
Registratie voor deelname zal plaatsvinden van 10 september tot en met 25 september, eveneens via CongresLGBTI2018@rutgers.nl. Er is een beperkt aan plaatsen beschikbaar.
Praktisch
Deelname kost € 35,00 en is open voor niet-onderzoekers. Masterstudenten betalen € 15,00. Deelname is inclusief koffie/thee, lunch, drankjes en congresmateriaal. Een beperkt aantal masterstudenten van de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) kan gratis deelnemen. Masterstudenten van UvA worden verzocht bij registratie-aanvraag het studentnummer te vermelden.
The keynote presentation of Ilan Meyer will be in English. Abstracts can be submitted in English and contributions in English are welcome.

Call for abstracts
2nd Conference on LGBTI Research in the Low Countries
State-of-the-art and a look into the future
On 10 October the second edition of the LGBTI Research Conference will take place. The conference aims at an interdisciplinary exchange to inform researchers and other interested people about current LGBTI research in the Netherlands and Flanders.
Researchers are invited to present their current work or reflections on LGBTI research. Abstracts can be submitted on current studies, panels on thematic, methodological or theoretical issues, or interactive sessions for plenary discussion of a topic or issue (i.e. publishing, measuring, recruitment, policy agenda).
Keynote speakers
Prof. dr. Ilan Meyer works at the Williams Institute (University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA) and previously worked at Columbia University in New York. Meyer is the founder of the sexual minority stress model that is often used as an explanation for differences in mental health between homosexual and heterosexual individuals. He is also the principal investigator of the “Generation” study, the topic of his presentation at the conference.
Prof. dr. Theo Sandfort (Columbia University, New York) was the chairman of the department of homosexual studies at the University of Utrecht and the research program “Diversity, lifestyle and health” at the Netherlands Institute for Social Sexological Research (currently Rutgers). He was also chairman of the Dutch Society for Sexology and of the International Academy of Sex Reseach. Sandfort conducts research in the United States and various African countries on – among other topics – men who have sex with men. In his presentation he will further elaborate on this with reference to the situation in the Netherlands.
Submission of abstracts & registration

Practical information
The participation fee is € 35.00. Participation is open to non-researchers. The participation fee for Master students is € 15.00. The participation fee includes coffee, tea, lunch, drinks, and conference material. A limited number of Master students of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) can participate for free. If you are a Master student at the UvA, please mention your student number in your registration email.
Contributions in English are welcome. Please note that not all sessions will be in English and that translation will not be available. The keynote presentation of Ilan Meyer will be in English.
